lonely was not something that kuroo was use to being. he was use to being flocked to, girls flocking to his sides to flirt because he was a cute athlete bad boy type, people in general flocking to him because he was a charismatic person, well when he wasn't in a mood. but right now, as of late he had been in a mood, and he was lonely. he was sure that if he wanted to he could draw people in, but there had only been one person that he had wanted to draw in, to be around since he had gotten here and that had been kenma. kuroo had been looking everywhere for him, had been living in terminus, the techno savvy sector of this dimension, he had been sure that he would find kuroo there. then to his completely and utter surprise he had found the younger male in the capitol. just when kuroo had felt his life settling, getting back to normal, just when he had been packing up his place to move into the capitol to be closer to kenma, his friend had disappeared. kuroo had checked the orphanage and everything and had learned that it happened sometimes, people popped in and out of elysion like no one's business. the dark haired cat boy had felt devastated. instead of packing up and moving to the capitol he had moved to zephyr. he didn't want to be around the tech or the place where he had last seen kenma.
kuroo figured that he was in need of some fresh air and he couldn't have thought of a better place to get it. it was going to take him a while to adjust to his new surroundings, and to the feeling of having had his friend in his grasps and then losing him once more. but kuroo did have other friends in elysion. bokuto was here, but he lived in the capitol and obvioualy kuroo didn't want to go there. but akaashi was here too and he lived in zephyr, so that was perfect. he could go spend time with akaashi when he was free and chances were that he would see a lot of bokuto too even without going to the capitol, so it just seemed like a win win. but kuroo hadn't been able to really muster any smiles lately. he was sure that both akaashi and bokuto, even as oblivious as the latter could sometimes be, had noticed this already. but honestly spending time with them did help him feel not as lonely, if only on the inside. but at the same time, he had seen them both a lot as of late, and a part of him was starting to worry if he was becoming a burden onto akaashi. that was the last thing he wanted. kuroo didn't mind bugging bokuto, just like he knew bo would never worry about bugging him, but akaashi was a different story.
well there was that and the fact that akaashi and bo were dating. the last thing kuroo wanted to do was seem as though he were moving in on bo's boyfriend because he was always visiting. that wasn't the case at all. the last thing kuroo wanted was that, he would never do that to bo, his friendship meant too much to kuroo, now more than ever, besides akaashi adored bokuto. kuroo wasn't always sure why, but he could always see it in akaashi's face when he was with bokuto. the two of them were adorable in their own crazy way, and kuroo wanted that. sometimes it hurt to be around them, so he would give them their space, both because they needed time away from him and he needed time away from them. but eventually he came back, like tonight. this evening was the first time in three days or so that he had come over, he had spent some time alone, mostly running, exercising, reading, anything that kept his mind off real life. watching television with bo did that, because they liked the same things, funny stuff, that they could laugh and make fun of. kuroo was so into the show they were watching he almost jumped when akaashi spoke from behind them, right in between his and bo's head. gnawing on his lip he looked over at bo and akaashi's profile in his friend's space. he knew he should find a way to repay these two for their kindness, maybe he would make dinner or take them out or something, he would think on it he decided as he stood. "it smells delicious, akaashi", kuroo said trying to smile and managing somewhat better than usual.
