it had been quite some time since kirei had thought of his human life, there was no need to dwell in a past when his future was outlined with heavenly light for as far as he could see. he hadn't heard of any angels falling since he'd become one, but he supposed that it was still possible. after all, his favorite book had several sections about his lord's favorite fallen angel. being an angel wasn't much different from his human life either, he still spread the message of the lord and his teachings, helped to guide people into the light and steer them from the darkness that was slowly becoming more and more apparent as the days went by. demons had risen from their own world to help corrupt human kind, to take after their father, the fallen angel that had started everything so long ago with adam and eve. angels had once governed from afar, stepping in on rare occasions when absolutely needed for it wasn't right to interfere with the livelihoods of those they cared for. though with the emergence of the demons, they had to become much more prevalent in nature, interfering far more often than in the older days. it was often weeks on end before kirei was able to return to heaven and renew himself of his heavenly aura as the human world tended to drain it the longer he was there. the struggle against fighting the darkness the demons were pushing was so strong though that he couldn't just be on earth for a few hours, he had to stay until he had no choice but to return home. it was only then when he took a moment to rest, regather his thoughts and restore himself to his full potential.
it was draining work, even without the influence of demons running among the humans. the brunette was reaching the end of one of those types of weeks, where he could feel the heavenly aura weakening inside himself and begging him to come home. except he was in the middle of something, well, someone really. he'd been tasked with dealing with a rather irksome demon, one that was persistent on the way he interacted with the angel and it was strange. he'd never been a man who cared for things of the flesh, not even when he was human, but he had to admit that the demon was tempting. however, not tempting enough to lose his grace over the matter. kirei didn't care how much the blonde tried or how obvious gilgamesh was in his actions, he was going to stay on the right path as best he could. though it certainly didn't help to have a demon over his shoulder, egging him towards doing something just out of line for it to still be justified.
the angel was occupying himself with reading over the latest news of the human world that he'd missed as he'd been rather caught up in his latest charge, a human who had decided to embrace the darker side of things instead of the light. once a human decided to swing one way or another, it was considered a different angel's task to bring them back, kirei's was the simple job of providing the opportunity to learn about the goodness in life and what the lord had to offer to people. once someone choose their side, there was another angelic being who took over and helped to bring them back to the light or guide them on a path of further righteousness. it was when he heard the silken voice of the demon around him, eyes glancing up in the slightest to show that he'd heard the man's request - though it was more of a taunt than a request in the first place.
the slight glance caught movement as he'd begun to read the text again, his eyes being drawn back up towards the blonde only to note the sly way in which he held himself. it was hard to miss the dark wings now displayed behind gilgamesh, the horns and tail a stark contrast against the light colors of his hair and body. it was always strange to the angel to see the angled, membranous wings, such a huge difference from the large, velveteen feathered wings that angels were known for. there was no mistaking about who was angel or demon when one was in their true form, though all of them could pass as humans if they wanted or needed to do that, though kirei preferred a human appearance anytime he was on earth, even if he was in the comfort of his own dwelling. the shift between angelic and human forms took a lot of angelic power and it drained him even faster if he was constantly having to switch between them, making his duration in the human world even shorter than it could be. the wings of the other weren't what caught his attention though, it was the way with which gilgamesh held himself, his tail stretched out as if reach in his direction and a smirk along his lips. it was so irritating.
"i'm reading." kirei finally answered, peeling his gaze from the other's form, hoping that the demon didn't look too far into it. after all, he had been staring for far more time than what would have been conceived as appropriate and necessary. however, the angel could still feel the other's eyes on him, feel the relentless attitude that he knew the blonde would likely pull out if he put up too much of an argument. it was just a rare thing for angels to share the beauty of their wings with people, it was a bond that was only shared with those that meant something to them and kirei wasn't certain if the demon deserved to see such a thing. it was already bad enough that gilgamesh could see the faint angelic halo that rested above his head, a telltale sign that he wasn't completely human, but only other angels or unworldly beings could sense it.
with an imperceptible sigh, the angel let his grace flow freely throughout his body, his wings stretching out behind his back, slowly til their full extent. angel wings were large and almost a pure, blinding white, though the brunette held some of his grace within so that they didn't shine so bright and the other could actually see how his wings looked if he cared to scrutinize them. with them outstretched behind him to accommodate his position in the chair, they brushed slightly against the floor, his wings ruffling slightly to re-position himself so that they weren't touching anything. it was an intimate thing he was doing, allowing this demon to see him at nearly his full angelic form, his wings on display and his halo more solidified than the soft light it had previously been. he kept his eyes downcast, feigning as if he was still reading, though every single one of his sense were trained on the demon in case the other tried to do something. it wasn't uncommon to hear of those demons that had more darkness than other ripping the wings off of an angels back for black market money.
GILGAMESH going with like an actual semi-wholesome priest for kirei??? like he wasn't an assassin when he was human, just a lil paster who sometimes had impure thoughts >> but as an angel, his mind has become more twisted with angelic thoughts and he's lowkey like Extreme in what he does and the other angels sorta look at him like 'wtf r u doing boi'
