"this is stupid
." kagura had no idea how many times in the last day and a half that he'd said the same phrase in the same tone - begrudging and not even just a little bit annoyed - but he was sure it was a lot
. he had no idea how he kept getting dragged into stuff he didn't want to do. if it wasn't mikono taking him out on dates or just trying to get him out of the apartment in general, it was kisumi taking him to weird places. or, in this particular case, really dumb places. granted, kisumi was a relatively new person he knew, but that didn't keep him from getting into kagura's space and having really weird ideas. were they not going to a place like vesper, kagura would most likely declined the offer no matter how many times kisumi asked him about it. that, and mikono would look at him like he'd done something wrong if he let a friend
go off someplace dangerous without him when they couldn't protect themselves. so, not only was he escorting someone to a place he really did not want to go to, he wasn't even getting paid for it either. he wasn't scared by being in vesper - he'd seen a lot worse than this just on altair alone - but between mikono's potential disappointment in him and kisumi nagging him, kagura really had no choice in the matter at the end of the day. he kicked at the ground as they continued to walk to wherever they were going, getting deeper and deeper into the more underpopulated areas of vesper. how did he get himself mixed up in this again?
"you know only kids get scared by haunted houses, right?" he said out loud. not that he had a whole lot of experience with being a kid and also being a kid around a haunted house. abandoned buildings? sure. plenty of them back on altair with how the population was beginning to dwindle down over the years. he'd even hid out in some of them just to get away from mikage for a little while before he had no choice but to go back or was found by someone looking for him. none of them where haunted, though, mostly because no one on altair had time to think about such things when they were all slowly dying and becoming extinct. funny what a curse does to some people. it wasn't something kagura really thought much about before mikono, but even that was for a different reason than the one the people of altair would have preferred. either way, it didn't make the situation any less ridiculous. besides, didn't people usually do this kind of thing during. what was it called again? hallosomething? kagura had no idea and he wasn't about to wrack his brain trying to remember, but his point still stood.
looking over to kisumi, kagura asked, "why do you even wanna go here anyway?" they had yet to stop walking and the area only got worse and worse the further into it they went. if kisumi got hurt because he wanted to do something stupid, it was no skin off kagura's nose. "you actually want to see a ghost or something?" he didn't know if he wanted to laugh, smirk, scoff, or do all three at the same time. where did people even come up with these kinds of ideas. scratching at the back of his head, kagura added, "not like they even exist in the first place." it was probably because he was getting more annoyed by the minute that kagura had more to say than usual, but he couldn't really help himself from doing it. it just didn't make any sense to him at all. then again, kagura didn't really care about much beyond mikono, so why he was getting so bothered by it he had no idea. well, beyond the obvious one of being really, really irritated. mikono said that he should be a bit nicer to people and not be so anti-social all the time, but this was pushing it, in his opinion.
